2012 Certification

Once you have completed the certification course and passed the test, email Wil D'Addario  if you are interested in being a referee for the North Carroll Soccer Club.

You must be a 2011 certified USSF referees for consideration for game assignments. It also enables you to referee in tournaments held by various organizations throughout the year. Do not let your certification expire!

Re-certification for the 2011 is held at Carroll Indoor on the second Thursday of each month. You must attend three two-hour training sessions and pass the test in order to re-certify. Also, a reminder to regular re-certification referees: the USSF has extended the 50 question test to 100 questions, so I would recommend looking over your material before attending. You must get a 75% to pass!

Additional Things you need to know:

  • Referees are paid to do games.
  • You must purchase your own referee uniform(s) and equipment. Depending on the quality of equipment that you purchase and if you elect to buy Cold Weather gear you will spend between $75 and $150. You will need two jerseys (Gold & Black), black shorts, referee socks, red and yellow cards, Fox 40 whistle(s), and a count down watch.
  • I would recommend that you be at least 13 years. Adult referees are always welcome.
  • You also must attend an annual 5 hour re-certification class to maintain your certification and pass a refresher test. The fee to test is now $40.00.
  • If you have further questions you can e-mail me at refereeassignor@northcarrollsoccer.com or feel free to approach me during the day while I am around the fields.
  • It is mandatory to attend the NCSC referee meeting on Thursday August 18, from 7-9pm at the Senior Center in Hampstead. If you cannot attend you must let me (Wil D'Addario) know well ahead of time in order to be eligible to referee in the 2011 season.
  • There is also on field training on Saturday August 20, from 9-12pm at Manchester Elementary School. 1st and 2nd year referees will officiate travel scrimmages games. You will be mentored by veteran referees and a college referee will aslo assist.
