NCSC OVERTIME RULES

Playoff Games ending in a tie will be resolved in the following manner:

NO GOALIES                  ALL AGE GROUPS: 5V5

  • The players selected to play during the overtime period do not have to be on the field at the end of regulation. Each team will have a five minute intermission after the end of the regulation game. The referee(s) will conduct a coin toss. The winner of the coin toss will elect which goal they would like to defend. Overtime will begin with a drop-ball at midfield.
  • There will be no substitutions. The only exception will be for an injured player. If the injured player leaves the field and is substituted for, the injured player cannot return. Fatigue is not an injury.
  • No player is permitted to use their hands to prevent a goal. In the event that a player uses their hands to prevent the opposing team from scoring (defined as a ball traveling either in flight or on the ground in a direct path to the goal), that player will be red-carded for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity and the offending will lose a player for the duration of the game. Should the offending player’s team win, that player IS allowed to return for the following game. (Red card rule of the next game suspension is not applied)
  • Penalty Kicks – the defensive team will be allowed to place one defender in front of the goal on a penalty kick and that player is prohibited from using their hands to prevent the scoring of a goal. If the player uses their hands, the red-card rule above will apply. The kick will be re-taken.
  • Offside will not be called during the overtime period.
  • The team that scores first wins.
  • Every five minutes, a player from each team will be removed from the field until a goal is scored.  There will be no break, just a stoppage in play for the referee to instruct the removal of the players.   The restart will be a dropped ball or the correct restart if the ball was not in play at the five minute mark.   Players are removed until there are 2 v 2 and then no more players will be removed.  The game will be over when a goal is scored.

If you have any further questions, please email me, call me, or feel free to approach me during the day while I am around the fields.
